XTB Employee Volunteering in Nieborów

07.10.2026

On Thursday, October 1, 2026, a group of 28 volunteers from XTB’s Warsaw headquarters took part in an employee volunteering initiative in Nieborów, near Łódź. Together with the XTB Foundation and the Kwietna Foundation, employees took part in activities aimed at protecting local biodiversity. Their main task was to clear meadows of goldenrod – an invasive and highly expansive plant species that threatens native ecosystems by displacing native plants and contributing to soil depletion.

The initiative began in the morning, when the employees set off from XTB’s Warsaw office. The volunteering activity was part of the company’s employee volunteering program, under which every XTB employee has two additional days per year to participate in social and environmental initiatives during working hours.

The first stop was the Nieborów Palace and Garden Complex – the former residence of the Radziwiłł family. During a guided tour of the Baroque palace, participants learned about the history and cultural heritage of the region.

The volunteers then began working in the meadow. Environmental protection experts from the Kwietna Foundation introduced participants to the basics of protecting meadow ecosystems and explained how to safely and properly remove goldenrod. The species spreads rapidly and can limit the growth of native plants, which is why its removal is one of the measures supporting the protection of local biodiversity.

Three goats also joined the volunteers during their work, helping to naturally graze and maintain the green areas. The animals quickly became one of the main attractions of the trip and attracted a great deal of interest from the participants.

The event had not only an environmental but also an integration-focused dimension. Employees from different departments at XTB had the opportunity to get to know each other better, exchange experiences, work together to support environmental protection, and spend time outdoors.
